A Silent Grace

There is a stark silence deep within me
That my mind covers with a heavy fog
Of noise — no, it is underneath a sea
Polluted worse than the dirtiest smog.

In spite of this obstacle between us,
I can see You far below by a light
That outlines Your beautiful face and thus
You envelope me like a pitch black night.

Oh God, I have never earned Your embrace
And yet here I am submerged within it.
But this is just the nature of Your grace:
To be given to those who are unfit.
