The Ambition of a House Cat

Compelled by her most ancient intuition,
The kitten hides with murdeous intention.
She stalks her prey, invisible to our gaze,
She will take its life, and gain lasting praise.

Who will see the prowess of this beast?
Who will she invite to her glorious feast?
Her prey will warn us in stories countless,
Her deed will live on in memories endless.

If only the world was as she saw it,
Then the truth would be as I wrote it.

[Loosely inspired by William Blake's "The Tyger"]
